Prepare the Steak for Cooking

Preparation of the steak before it touches the griddle plate is a vital process. It will indeed affect how you cook the steak and the expected results regardless of your recipe.

First, if your steak has been stored in a refrigerator, you need to defrost it to attain room temperature before marinating and cooking it.

After removing your steak from storage, place it on the counter for about 20-30 minutes. Also, use paper towels to dry the water it’s removing.

The next step is marinating your steak. Depending on how you want it, you can utilize the standard marinade, dry seasoning, or overnight soaking marinade.

You should leave the steak for about 30 minutes as it sucks in the marinade.

Preheat the Griddle Pan

You should not cook on your griddle if it’s not hot enough. Also, you must use a clean pan to avoid steaks from sticking to it.

Once your griddle is well set up on a table or a flat surface like a kitchen top, plug in the power cord to the power source. Turn on the electric griddle and set it on high to preheat.

You should attain about 350 to 400 degrees F. Read from the built-in heat indicator on the electric grill or use a thermometer for the same.

Preheating should take about 10-20 minutes, depending on the cooking you want to achieve.

Cooking the Steak on the Griddle

At this stage, your steak is ready for cooking. Therefore, proceed and place your steak on the griddle pan. Do not forget to maintain a medium to high temperature while cooking.

Cook time for medium-sized steak is about 2-3 minutes on each side. Use a tong to flip up the steak to cook on the other sides once it’s cooked for the time mentioned above.

Check the table below for guidance on how long you should cook to achieve various cooking levels.

Utilize your meat thermometer to determine the internal temperature of the steak.

It’s also important to note that the thickness and type of steak you select affects your steak's cook time on the electric griddle.

For instance, the cooking time of a thin steak is not the same as that of a thick steak.

Additionally, avoid overcooking as it might burn your steak.

Finish the Cooking

Once your steak is cooked according to your preference, remove it from the griddle pan, place it on aluminum foil and wrap it.

Let it cool down for about 5 to 10 minutes before serving it. This last process is vital as it allows your steak to suck in the juices and maintain a good flavor.
