What ingredients do you need?

Below are all the ingredients you need to make hash browns on an electric griddle:

  • Peeled potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Fresh and minced parsley

Note: Depending on the number of people you’ll be serving, you can always adjust the quantities of the above ingredients.

What is the procedure of making hash browns on an electric griddle?

The entire process starts with grating or shredding potatoes into a bowl. Then place the grated potatoes on paper towels, muslin cloth, or cheesecloth and squeeze out any excess water.

In case you don’t have any of the above pieces, you can use any other clean fabric to remove the excess water from the potatoes.

The next step is to preheat your electric griddle over medium-high heat for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then drizzle some olive oil or add butter to the griddle.

Meanwhile, you can prepare the shredded potatoes while you preheat the griddle. Put them in a dry, empty bowl. Then add the parsley, salt, and pepper and toss.

Use your hands to shape the above mixture into hash browns or a similar shape to that of patties. You can make either small or large-sized hash browns, depending on how you want them.

Once your griddle has attained the ideal temperature, it’s time to cook the hash browns. Place them on the electric griddle and use a spatula to flatten them against the griddle.

Allow the hash browns to cook for about 3-5 minutes on each side. Most importantly, ensure you achieve a deep golden brown color on the hash browns. Also, they should have a crispy texture.

Finally, remove them from the griddle and serve.

What temperatures do you cook hash browns on an electric griddle?

Medium-high heat is the most ideal for cooking hash browns on an electric griddle. The electric griddle’s temperature should be at 375 degrees F.

How do you make hash brown stick together?

The best way to ensure your hash brown doesn’t stick together is by properly draining all the water from the potatoes after grating.

You can also brown hash browns until they are crispy by using more heat and less oil. The other alternative is adding cheese to help in binding together your hash browns.

How do you know when the hash browns are done?

When hash browns are done, the cooking side is crisp and brown. Also, the hash browns stick together.

Why are my hash browns soggy?

Probably, you didn’t dry your hash browns well. Therefore, the water turns into steam during the cooking and causes the hash browns to be soggy.
