Grilling Bacon on Electric Grills

Some people who are used to frying bacon are hesitant to grill bacon. It’s possible to grill bacon. However, it’s easier tastier when grilled on an electric grill.

Typical grills (charcoal and gas grills) can grill bacon, but it can be nerve-wracking. Why? Bacon slices aren’t thick like steaks and don’t like direct fire. Additionally, the entire process of making a sheet of aluminum foil on the grill grates can be tiresome.

So, why should you consider cooking bacon on an electric grill? Below are a few reasons:

  • It’s easier to manage the heat
  • You don’t have to deal with flare-ups
  • Bacon strips don’t stick on the cooking surface
  • It’s convenient
  • It’s not messy
  • You can grill indoor (including apartments). It’s smokeless and safe for indoor cooking.

Now, why would you choose grilled bacon? The charring and grill marks on bacon strips result from the Maillard reaction that leaves a great flavor and tasty bacon. Additionally, grilled bacon has an exceptional meaty aroma.

What’s unique about grilling bacon is that it gets crisper edges and a deeper flavor than fried bacon.

Pan-frying Bacon

Frying bacon on a pan is a common method of cooking bacon strips. It’s not a complicated process as long as you have a stovetop and quality frying pan or skillet. Once your pan is preheated, brush it with a layer of oil or grease, you can quickly get crispy bacon strips. It’s essential you cook your bacon slices on a pan with a large surface area and shallow walls that allow easy flipping.

What if you seared your bacon on an electric griddle? You can still get nice and crispy bacon strips on an electric griddle. You’ll have less messy cooking. Also, you won’t need grease or cooking because it comes with a non-stick cooking surface. Once your electric griddle is preheated to about 325 degrees F, place it to sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side. You get crispy bacon strips with brown color on both sides.

Why would you fry bacon? It comes out crispy and with a deep golden brown color.

Grilled Bacon vs. Deep Fried Bacon: Which One Should You Choose?

Grilling and frying are both great methods to cook bacon. Each leaves a unique flavor and taste on bacon strips. Therefore, choosing between the two boils down to your preference.

You can consider frying your bacon if you want it crispy with deep brown color. However, depending on the size of your pan, you might end up cooking several batches of bacon strips because of the reduced surface area.

On the other hand, if you want well-charred bacon with beautiful grill marks, crispy edges, and deep flavor, try cooking your bacon on an electric grill.
